My hubby has many facets to his personality comprised of strengths and weaknesses. This in itself comes as a shock to nobody, as we all are complex to others when they attempt to understand us.
However, I want to share a sweet blessing from my hubby of which I am thankful for during this month of Thanksgiving.
My hubby and I decided to hold the feast at our home this year. Any woman who has prepared the meal herself knows the laborious hours involved. It was no different for me. For the most part of Wednesday, I was making and baking homemade pies and cheesecake.
Wednesday night brought on its own challenge. We had sick children and I dared to stay up and make homemade potato rolls. After cooking and mashing the potatoes for the rolls, I worked them into dough for bread. I then realized the potato bread had a LOT of lumps in it. I spent 2 hours kneading out the lumps of potato to make it smooth. Then I had to let it rise for an hour, before shaping into rolls, dousing in butter, and letting rise again before popping into the oven. In an exhausted state, I crawled into bed at 4 AM.
I had to be up at 7 AM to prepare the Turkey. I was dreading the day, as I knew the fatigue would easily bring me to tears if anything went wrong, which is bound to happen when you undertake such an endeavor.
Enter my hero. My hubby, Steve, came in the kitchen and pitched in the entire day. First, he bathed our children and got them dressed. Then he peeled potatoes while I took a shower. The rest of the day, he helped host a wonderful feast and stood shoulder to shoulder by me, preparing all the last hour details of the meal. Organized, Steve in that last hour kept things flowing smoothly when I could almost not function mentally from exhaustion. My hubby gave up his favorite Thanksgiving pastime, football games, to serve my need.
I have a brand new respect for my husband’s choice to be a servant for his family and feel deeply grateful to God and my hubby for a wonderful day of fellowship with family! I love you Mr. Bell!

Lummy! What a star, or should that be the Lone Ranger. [do Americans call their stoves 'ranges' if not then that joke won't work]
Cheers
I am blessed a second time reading this post about your husbands love for you and how he proved it by denying himself!!
Blessings dear sister! You know, I was just thinking how much fun we would have together in the kitchen...as long as we didn't have interuptions from all our kids! I love you am always encouraged by you..
Ciao..
Now I say that's romantic! Love in action, especially when it comes to those football games. I hope everyone is on the mend. I haven't been feeling too well lately, but this too shall pass. Thanks for swinging by earlier. God bless my friend.
P.S. Was that a picture of your table? If so, very lovely and inviting!
Hi Maddy: Yes, we do still call them ranges, but mostly stovetops. That was truly a cute play on words, you gave me a giggle! Wonderful to see you here and I will try to get by your blog and see what is up with your precious youngsters soon! Blessings to you!
Hi Laurie: Yes, denying himself. Isn't that something so contrary to our nature? But in a family it is something we must do, whether the family of God or our family in our home. It was absolutely a delight to speak to you on Thanksgiving and made my evening all the more special! I love you dear sis!!!
Hi Susan:
Yes, my husband placed major points/credits in the Love Bank! I feel all the more cherished and protected by him with his act of selfless love.
No, it was not a picture of my table. I always forget to pull out the camera at moments like that. However, this year I put all the food on my breakfast bar and kept the table for plates and drinks. :) Hope you feel better soon! Blessings to you dear sister!
wow that brought tears to my eyes. Maybe I should just present those stressed-out opportunities more often?? lol Is that your table? If so your T-day was a beautiful bounty as well :)

Hi Denise:
I have to say, I am still in shock when I think about how my hubby pitched in on Thanksgiving Day. In fact, it is good for me to remember, because it renews my love and respect for him.
No, it is NOT my table. I wish...LOL! Actually, we did decorate for Thanksgiving (though my youngest kept tearing off the beads on my porcelain indian and I found many bite marks in my fake gourds...hee hee).
Blessings to you dear sister, Julianne
That is super sweet of him! My husband has been a dear and made the entire meal for me when I was going through a rough pregnancy. We were missing a couple of traditional items, but it was still great! (I think he made Easter and Thanksgiving that year, when I was newly pregnant and just after I had the baby)
I haven't been able to find out how many sweet kiddos you have. I love having a large family and pray for God to bless us again.
